MagiKats Maths and English Tuition Alloa

At MagiKats Alloa we aim to bring out the best from each and every child we enrol. Our main goal is to help children achieve their full potential, which is achieved via a combination of written exercises and hands-on activities which put the fun back into learning.

We are very child-centred, allowing each child to progress at their own pace. We believe that taking the time needed for a child to properly understand the work we cover is more important than covering a large quantity, although we do provide comprehensive support for the Curriculum for Excellence as well as an individually created work plan for each child.

Welcome to MagiKats Maths and English tuition programme in Alloa

It’s not only younger children that can benefit from maths and English tuition. Our programme is designed to fit your child at whatever stage you find they need that extra help. From pre-school to National 5s, MagiKats is a system whereby children are encouraged to achieve their full potential in maths and English.

Our system provides a structured framework for improvement which will see your child grow in confidence as well as learning. Learning is both formal and informal with a range of different resources available to the mentors to make learning fun.

The MagiKats approach to learning

Once enrolled, each child works with a suitably qualified and fully trained mentor in a small group limited to a maximum of six children.  This approach allows the mentor to understand each child’s needs and monitor their progress very carefully.  In the weekly workshops, the children will use a multi-sensory approach to their learning.  We have several resources that encourage problem solving, analytical and thinking skills which helps to boost your child’s confidence and also encourages social skills by interacting with the other children in their group.

A small amount of carefully chosen homework is then set each week to fill gaps in knowledge and ability. The dual approach of workshops and homework has proven to work well amongst children enrolled within MagiKats.

Our Mentors

All our mentors are carefully selected, suitably qualified and fully trained under the MagiKats umbrella with a clear focus on the educational development of your child.  They are fully DBS checked and have appropriate Safeguarding certification. Our mentors will become a trusted guide and advisor for your child with a clear objective of supporting your child to aspire to new heights and achieve their full potential.

Our Centre

Limetree House, situated a stone’s throw from the town centre, previously housed the council offices. The office is open Tuesday to Thursday 10am to 5pm, but only by appointment when workshops are running.

Before enrolling your child with MagiKats we will invite you to attend for a placement visit. This is a perfect opportunity for parents and children to see around our centre. During the placement exercise, your child will answer questions that identify where their strengths lie and where they need help in maths and English.  The outcome of the assessment and our discussion with you about goals will allow us to provide a tailored programme of work specifically for your child’s needs.
